Aristotle is known as the father of zoology. Zoology is a branch of biology that deals with animals’ life, evolution, anatomy, physiology, and behaviour.
The Department of Zoology started in 1967 since the inception of college. This Department has been working as the integral part from the very beginning of various courses in the college that come under Bachelor of Science General for Life Science streams. This Department has remained engaged actively in the successful journey of these programs and has started B.Sc. (H) Zoology since 2017-18, after erstwhile FYUP in Zoology.

Mission, Aims and Objectives of the Department Mission:
- Zoology is the study of animals in all its aspects, from cells to populations and from neurons to behaviour. The Department tries to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the college and also focuses on the following special departmental objectives: –
- To train majority of rural girl students in a wide range of science-based skills that provide the learning base for future careers in disciplines of teaching, research and management such as health sciences, agriculture, fisheries, environmental management and emerging biotechnology.
- Provide quality education and inculcate the spirit of resource conservation and love for nature.
- To motivate the students for self-employment in various applied branches of Zoology.
- Impart value-based education and make them members of civil society and provide opportunities for professional and personal development through curricular and co- curricular activities.
